TONIGHT TREEHOUSE STUDIOS!

My painting Cardinal Halo Tree (20" x 24", acrylic on canvas) is up for auction to benefit Media Reform South Carolina at tonight's event at Treehouse Studios. Its going to be a great shindig with music, food, spirits and art. Here's the details:
The October 17th installment of Rock ‘N’ Roots will feature some of the best in the Charleston music scene. We will be featuring the Paul Quattlebaum Trio (also known as the New Fresh with a slightly different lineup), and Post- Cobra, exploring the overlapping boundaries of jazz, surf, and lo-fi Cuban music.
Local Chef and farmer Chris Miller will be creating the most amazing Lowcountry Cuban Sandwiches, using ingredients from Brownscourt Bakery, Fresh Pickle Works, and others.
We will be offering craft beer from Palmetto Brewery.
Also this month we will be hosting a fundraiser for Media Reform South Carolina. MRSC is an organization that Treehouse recently joined to help create a true local radio station, informing the public of real news and offering educational content encompassing farms, food, art and music.
Local Artist Lisa Shimko will be providing a dedicated piece to this event and a silent auction will be held, with proceeds going towards MRSC for an engineers survey, which is the process required to obtain an operating frequency.
Tickets will be on sale Monday September 30th online via Treehouse Productions’ Ticketleap storefront. Presale tickets are $15. Limited tickets may still be available DOS, in which case they will be $20 cash only.
Any information regarding the event can be found on the event page for Rock ‘N’ Roots on Facebook.

Autumn and Blue Heron

A local friend who is infinitely talented has just opened Blue Heron Acupuncture & Apothecary Studio.   For some time now I have been a big proponent of eastern ways over western medical practices so I am very excited to have Blue Heron Acupuncture and Apothecary nearby.

I was honored to be approached to create a logo for Blue Heron and now I am even more honored that they requested me to adorn their walls with some of my art.  A few newer abstracts are hanging, with Water Halos the most recent creation.

Here's a few fragments of thoughts about the ongoing series:
"This series is a continual digestion of the aquatic biomes of near and far. Mediations via memory–sensations encompassing tactile, visual, and intellectual of the waterways and terra. Thoughts of the connections of waterways from high terrain down to the low
country.
Feeding this body of work are many excursions out on a boat and ongoing gathering of information ranging from pollution problems to overfishing; our impact in this natural world. Simply I am trying to find a way to express the beauty that is so elusive in its
usual descriptions."

Stay posted for information about a November 9th Open House!
